Forget the Right Time: New Moms Are Waiting For the Right Employer to Have a Baby (October 19, 2016)

It used to be that there was a right time to have a child: You’d met the right guy or gal, had enough space for the baby, and you were ready to pay for diapers. But now, new parents are waiting for the right employer to procreate, a new study shows.
Modern Family Index’s third annual report shows that a whopping 70 percent of new parents say that employer tops their list of considerations when deciding to start a family. Perhaps we shouldn’t be surprised that so many people would think about work before even money when it comes to starting a family considering the shamefully low percentage of employers that offer paid parental—and the consequences that can come from having a child while working for an unreasonable or even discriminatory employer.
