With a love of books and a novel idea to engage with and support our local community, my partners and I opened Changing Hands Bookstore in 1974.

In the more than 40 years that we’ve been in business, Changing Hands has seen changing times but our original principles still hold true. We believe in giving back to the community that we serve and honoring the good people who work for and with us, people who have helped us grow from a tiny 500-square-foot store to the 21,000 square feet we now occupy between our two stores in Tempe and Phoenix.

We wouldn’t be where we are today without them.
