SAN ANTONIO- For the first time ever, city employees can receive a full six weeks paid maternity leave for both parents, as well as additional time off to allow for doctors’ appointments and school functions.
Phil Laney, like many men, wears many hats, working in the city’s budget office and at home a husband and father. His second daughter is expected to arrive in January.
“When our first daughter arrived four years ago, I took as much time as I had on my leave,” said City of San Antonio employee Phil Laney.
Laney took 3 weeks of his saved vacation time, but come January he is approved for 6 weeks paid leave to spend with his family and their new addition.
